OUTDOOR SHOOTS

How I choose the best time to shoot,
and how you choose a great location.

Choosing The best Time

We’ll begin your portrait session an hour and a half before sunset on your chosen date to take advantage of “golden hour,” the best hour of the day. I’ll use a sunset calculator to determine the scheduled sunset for your session date and location.

Selecting a Great Location

The location of your portrait session is up to you! For most sessions, wide, open-air environments are great. In these types of spaces, the light is superb, especially during golden hour.

Think outside the box as you brainstorm possible locations. Do you have special access to a unique location, like a beautiful private estate, country club or resort? Maybe it’s a family farm, an upscale hotel or a rooftop view. The sky is the limit!

Spend some time thinking about it and checking around. You’ll be surprised with what you come up with. Plus, if something seems out of reach, just remember: you never know until you ask! My goal, always, is to turn your vision into a reality. Don’t be afraid to dream big.
